This is a picture of the ship that the Luft family sailed on when they left Europe. They apparently took a train to England then boarded the SS Laurentian for Halifax, Nova Scotia in Liverpool, England on March 2, 1899, arrivng in Halifax on March 13, 1899. This ship was purported to be rather unstable and even Johann Conrad Luft, who was in the Russian Navy for seven years got sick.
